After Two years and a whole rebrand, We Are Survivors took to the streets of Manchester to run the Great Manchester 10k, again! Our Brilliant team consisted of previous participants, staff members, volunteers and survivors all running/walking in support of male survivors.
The super team weren’t the only ones to run in support of We Are Survivors as we had other runners taking part in the half marathon for us, each runner regardless of pace or distance raised awareness for us and just like the previous time raised a massive £5000!
Our first and only apprentice fundraiser, Liam Webster, planned, managed and even participated in the event. Here’s what he has to say about it! –
”As someone who has never ran for anything other than the bus, training to run 10 km was one of the biggest physical and even mental challenges I’ve had to take on, it was difficult, it was tiring, it was rewarding. The moment I crossed the finish line the days I had spent panting and dragging my feet just to hit another PR were worth it; I’d achieved something to be proud of. I am proud to support male survivors and I am proud to be a part of the team”
Everyone who took part in the run for We Are Survivors ran for somebody either themselves or a loved one, as a personal goal or to break the silence, but regardless of the reason we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part and if you’re interested in volunteering in any upcoming fundraising events please contact us at [email protected]
